No matter how hard you’ve prepared and studied for the HSC in Year 12, there’s always going to be something you wish you had done differently.
Year 12 is a big year for everyone with different challenges along the way and when you look back on it, there’s probably a few things you might have changed if you could do it again.
Well, you’re in luck because we’ve sat down with some past Year 12 students who were once in your position, to find out what they would have done differently through their reflections. That means you can learn from their wisdom and apply it to your own studies!
So, let’s take a look at the top tips they’ve got for you!
Get feedback early
Don’t be afraid to ask for feedback early on because that’s how you learn. It’s worth getting feedback on yourpractice papersearly on because then you’ll know what to work on from the start and can improve.
Your teachers are there to help you so make sure you’re getting input from them on your progress and work.
There’s always something you can do
You do have to push yourself to stay motivated because Year 12 really is a marathon, not a race. You have to keep going and be proactive.
If you’ve completed a practice paper your teacher told you to do at home, go and do the next one!
Set your goals from the start
We all know how important goal setting is and it’s just as important for Year 12. Be sure to sit down and have a think about what your main goal is for the year because that will help motivate you and keep you on track.
Whether it’s getting a certain ATAR,getting into the degree you wantto do or making the most of every moment at school, having a clear goal in your head will give you something to work towards.
Get on top of those notes
Having goodquality notesis so important and the quicker you compile them, the better! Of course, take your time to make sure you’ve covered every dot point and everything you’ve learnt. You’ll be referring to your notes throughout the whole year.
Work consistently
Consistency is key! You’re not going to see the results you want if you only study hard one month before the HSC.
Instead, you’ve got to work consistently on each subject throughout the whole year to see those results. We promise you it will be worth it!
Organise your notes
Whether you use a binder, a folder or have a separate notebook for each subject, make sure you keep your notes organised so you can easily find what you’re looking for.
你将会增加你的笔记as you learn new content and you’ll also have to revisit them to refresh your memory.
Don’t put too much pressure on yourself
Year 12 is a challenging year with highs and lows. It’s a year of learning and growth. It’s important to be kind to yourself and despite the hurdles you may have to overcome, you will make it to the finish line!
Learn from your mistakes
We all make mistakes and thank goodness we do because that’s the way we learn. Instead of getting frustrated by your mistakes, take them as a chance to grow and improve. That will motivate you to work a little harder and do better next time (plus you won’t make the same mistake).
There you go!
You’ve heard it from past Year 12 students themselves! Be sure to learn from their wisdom so you can take it into account for your own Year 12 journey.
