Developing a Personal Motto
Rowan shared a personal story about how having a motto really helped him push through the hard times.
He wanted to get fit so he decided to train with one of his best mates who is really, really fit. They were running together and at the top of every hill, Rowan just wanted to stop, take a break and not do anything.
His best mate motivated him by saying“just go another 100 metres”and well, Rowan would do it and realised he could run more than 100 metres.
He pushed through the pain and kept on going! Now the trick here ishaving a motto that’s going to motivate you when things get challenging and you feel like giving up.That phrase, “Just go another 100 metres”, became Rowan’s personal motto!
Whether it’sa quote, a song lyric, a phrase or proverb, choose a motto that resonates with you, one that lifts you up and inspires you to keep going.
Now, it might be something cliche or something that other people don’t understand. But that doesn’t matter — it’swhatever works for you!更多的个人你的座右铭是,the more powerful it is going to be because it means something to you!
We’ve had students who have chosen“Just do it”or Michael Jackson’s“Don’t stop until you get enough”— whatever is going to get you back up and running after a challenge!
